This isn't specific to one item in the Maplestory 2 Mesos shop or necessarily the quantities or cost of these items, but more about the ideology Nexon is moving towards based on statements I have been reading from Nexon regarding this event and what direction events like this may be headed in the future.
I am the leader of a guild that has existed for 4 and half years on maplestory and in that time the game has obviously changed and morphed quite a few times, some things have improved and some things haven't but those are a matter of opinion and not the point I am trying to make.
One thing that has happened over the years is people have quit for periods of time and this also applies when brand new people also join. One of the most common things i see from these people is I feel weak, or how do i get stronger when they are comparing them self to people that have played for years. A lot of these people don't want to or are unable to spend significant amounts on NX to accomplish this. So what we have told them is that it's still possible to get strong in the game but you have to be willing to work for it and we give our suggestions, These suggestions have included things like take advantage of the maple reward system, Do farm able quests, like Gollux and always participate in the coin shop events and in particular the anniversary one and it is the single most effective way to get stronger without purchasing NX or spending hours a day merchanting in free market. This has always been a viable and encouraged and legal way to improve your characters and it seems to me it should be encouraged to be, since it gives people hope and an option that they would not have had if not for them, it allows people away to work their own items and a sense of accomplishment.
Now the tenth anniversary shows up and we are being told things like the game is too damage focused and the events weren't meant to be used like this. This new stance is completely baffling to me and seems completely counter productive a nexon point of view, it seems you should want these people to have a way to compete and feel they have the ability to make them self stronger, because without these alternatives i will hazard to guess many of these people would become quickly discouraged and give up. I just dont understand the new stance especially in light of all the ways Nexon has tried to close these gaps in the funded and unfunded to suddenly change course and tell us that they don't want people to use one of the main tools they have always used to strengthen their characters...
any insight from Nexon here would be greatly appreicated
